Desired background includes four or more years experience in optical transport systems and SONET equipment platforms used for telecommunications. Also, exceptional knowledge of fiber optic systems theory, installation, troubleshooting and operation, including DWDM, other subsystems to support 2.5Gb/s and 10gb/s transmission in both metropolitan-area and long-haul applications, Ethernet over SONET transport, RPR, sub rate customer handoffs, and optical switching.  Ability to analyze customer requirements and design solutions that can be delivered on time and within budget.  Knowledge about systems to support optical transport including fiber cable testing, DC power, generators, out of band monitoring and control systems, network management systems. 

NoaNet engineers are expected to have an understanding of various computer platforms and the associated software that is used to manage networks.

EOE. Position requires on call and 24 hours a day availability, including weekends on a rotating schedule. Frequent travel may be required.
